High-mass pulsators in eclipsing binaries observed using TESS

چکیده

ABSTRACT Pulsations and binarity are both common features of massive stars. The study pulsating stars in eclipsing binary systems holds great potential for constraining stellar structure evolution theory. However, prior to the all-sky Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission, few such had been discovered or studied detail. We have inspected TESS light curves a large number binaries known contain high-mass stars, compiled list 18 objects which show intrinsic variability. were modelled determine physical properties systems, remove effects order leave residual suitable asteroseismic analysis. Precise mass radius measurements obtained ? Cir, CC Cas, SZ Cam V436 Per V539 Ara. searched pulsation signatures and, within our sample objects, we find six definite eight possible cases ? ASAS Eclipsing Binaries with Observed High Period Change Rates

We present 31 bright eclipsing contact and semi-detached binaries that showed high period change rates in a 5 year interval in observations by the All-Sky Automated Survey (ASAS). The time-scales |P/Ṗ | of these changes range from only 50 up to 400 kyr. The orbital periods of 10 binaries are increasing and of 21 are decreasing, and even a larger excess is seen in contact binaries, where the num...

Eclipsing binaries observed with the satellite

Context. Determinations of stellar mass and radius with realistic uncertainties at the level of 1% provide important constraints on models of stellar structure and evolution. Aims. We present a high-precision light curve of the A0 IV star ψ Centauri, from the star tracker on board the  satellite and the Solar Mass Ejection Imager camera on the Coriolis spacecraft. The data show that ψ Cen i...

Eclipsing binaries in ASAS catalog

ASAS is a long term project to monitor bright variable stars over the whole sky. It has discovered 50,122 variables brighter than V < 14 mag south of declination +28◦, and among them 11,099 eclipsing binaries. We present a preliminary analysis of 5,384 contact, 2,957 semi-detached, and 2,758 detached systems. The statistics of the distribution provides a qualitative confirmation of decades old ...

Eclipsing Binaries in Open Clusters

Detached eclipsing binaries are very useful objects for calibrating theoretical stellar models and checking their predictions. Detached eclipsing binaries in open clusters are particularly important because of the additional constraints on their age and chemical composition from their membership of the cluster. I compile a list containing absolute parameters of wellstudied eclipsing binaries in...

Chemical evolution of high-mass stars in close binaries. I. The eclipsing binary V453 Cygni

The eclipsing and double-lined spectroscopic binary system V453 Cygni consists of two early B-type stars, one of which is nearing the terminal age main sequence and one which is roughly halfway through its main sequence lifetime. Accurate measurements of the masses and radii of the two stars are available, which makes a detailed abundance analysis both more interesting and more precise than for...
